Being a computer user, have you ever thought that how does it listen and understand all that you want it to do or how does it respond to your commands, which you keep giving to it all the time? Well of course there is no magic or anything else, but it is all because of the way it is programmed. The programming is all about customizing and personalizing the computer with certain features so that it can understand your commands and can run smoothly.

The person who programmes the computer is called a computer programmer. Basically, he sets up certain programming language with which you become able to communicate with the computer. Some of the most used languages are C++, Visual Basic, Fortran, and many more. The purpose of all these languages is the same and they vary in their preference, by the user, according to his choice.  Also, you cannot use one language to use in other language, as these have their own specifications, which cannot be even mixed in other languages.

If you want to program your computer, then it’s not an easy task and you have to take the services of a computer programmer for that. But you can learn to program your computer through various computer training sessions. So, with this little description, now you must have got an idea that it is the computer programming, which lets you have a control over the computer by communicating with it.

“Will it rain enough in my region this season? Will my crop get infected with my neighbor’s crop disease? Which is the best pesticide to protect my crop? From where can I take out an agricultural loan?” These are some of the commonly asked questions of a farmer in rural India. These are also some of those questions to which very few people have the correct answer.

Tata Consultancy Services has taken an initiative to provide a service to farmers which can answer such queries of theirs in a couple of hours. The service is known as mKRSHI. It provides personalized advice to the farmers on low-end mobile phones. TCS is an Asian Innovation Awards finalist. It took such an initiative with the belief that technology can jump-start some of the Indian agricultural practices. A team of it spent almost two years on studying the farming patterns in rural India. It helped them develop methods to form a mobile connectivity between the farmers and agricultural experts.

The head of TCS Innovation Labs and the leader behind mKRISHI is Arun Pandey. He says, “In the absence of correct information and advice which is specific to him, the farmer relies on what other farmers do-or on his traditional wisdom.” He also says, “If one analyses the questions, one finds them to be quite specific to a farmer’s immediate environment and context. Hence, the information or advice given should be personalized to his need”

The word ‘mKRISHI’, combines ‘m’ for mobile and ‘krishi’, that refers to agriculture in several Indian languages. The service costs a farmer between $1 and $2 in a month. TCS has formed a partnership with wireless operators so as to allow farmers to download the platform on high-end phones. It has also set up “mini-mobile sites” which farmers can visit to have the platform which has been installed on low-end phones.

TCS launched mKRISHI in 2009. It serves the farmers belonging to agricultural states of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. It benefits 500 farmers. However, more than 1000 farmers derive benefit via the farmer’s social networks. TCS plans to partner with big IT companies to generate thousands of micro enterprises in villages. It will serve about 50, 000 farmers. The service makes the user farmers feel secured as they know that they can get in touch with an expert whenever and wherever they feel the need to.

You will see that despite of all kinds of evolutions and developments, the civilizations in this world, are still distinctive and unique from each other. When you see people from different parts/civilizations at one platform, then you can immediately distinguish them.

And it shows their true value. It does not matter that about which civilization you are talking or discussing about. All that matters is that you should read the history of individual civilization and look into the evolutionary stages. In this way, you are going to know the step by step development in its culture.

You will see that various technologies and inventions have become a part of the lives of people, but they have not left their values and norms. If a civilization forgets its basic culture, then there is no use of evolution in that society. The language, dressing and food are the factors, which makes each group of our societies different from others.

This differentiation and uniqueness have helped in making this world a colorful and beautiful place to live in. All the developments and evolutions have been happening in civilizations, just to make the lives of people, easier than before. This is the time, when not even a single civilization can make sure that what it would be in need of after 50 years, but the passing time would tell it its needs and wants. This is what you call developing stages of any civilization.
